Tour to discover the natural, archeological and colonial wonders of Yucatan and Campeche

Program

Day 1:
Cancún
Arrival at Cancún airport and transfer to the Fairfield Downtown Cancun hotel or similar. Overnight stay.

Day 2:
Cancun - Ek Balam - Valladolid
Breakfast. In the morning meeting with the guide at the hotel and departure to Valladolid, a precious small typically Yucatecan town, one of the Magical Peoples of Mexico. Visit to the centre: in the shadow of its white cathedral, the typical colonial streets of the city centre, the municipal market, and the Convent of San Bernardino. Visit to the site of Ek Balam, where you can climb the Mayan pyramid and if time permits, enjoy a refreshing swim in the cenote X'Canche. Free lunch and dinner. Overnight stay in the Meson del Marques hotel or similar.

Day 3:
Valladolid - Chichen Itza - Izamal - Merida
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to visit the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, considered as one of the new wonders of the world. Continuation to Izamal, a precious colonial town, to visit the famous Franciscan convent of Saint Anthony of Padua. Departure in the direction of Merida, capital of the state of Yucatan. City with a million inhabitants, famous for its cathedral and Paseo de Montejo, an avenue adorned with trees and the majestic and sumptuous residences of the former owners of the Haciendas where the green gold, Hennequen, was cultivated. Free lunch and dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel La Mision de Fray diego or similar.

Day 4:
Merida - Celestun - Merida
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for the Celestun nature reserve famous for its biodiversity, in particular pink flamingos. Free lunch in front of the beach and turquoise sea. Return to Merida and free time to visit the centre, the cathedral, the Governor's palace and take a ride in one of the typical horse-drawn carriages through the old town. Overnight stay.

Day 5:
Merida - Cenotes - Uxmal - Campeche
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for San Antonio de Mulix for a refreshing swim in one of the ‘cenotes’ and to meet one of the peninsula's many indigenous communities. In the afternoon, departure in the direction of Uxmal, one of the most important archaeological sites. Continuation to Campeche, capital of the state of the same name and a splendid colonial town. Overnight stay at the Francis Drake Hotel or similar.

Day 6:
Campeche - Calakmul
Departure for Calakmul. (4H30 drive). This majestic site, recently emerged from the jungle, has had an incredible influence on the history of the region and the history of the Maya people. Free lunch and dinner. Overnight stay at the Chicanna Ecovillage hotel.

Day 7:
Chicanna - Bacalar Lagoon
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure for Bacalar, a town that witnessed the caste wars and is situated on the banks of the lagoon of the same name. Opportunity to take a bath in the beautiful lagoon, take a kayak excursion for the more sporty or enjoy a boat trip to discover the wild fauna and flora of one of the most beautiful corners of the peninsula (not included). Overnight stay at the Hotel Rancho Encantado or similar.

Day 8:
Bacalar Lagoon - Tulum - Riviera Maya
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, free time to discover the lagoon and its riches. In the afternoon, departure for the site of Tulum, built on the beautiful shores of the Caribbean Sea. Visit of the site and then on to the Riviera Maya. Overnight stay at the chosen hotel (not included).

Possibility of adding a sea extension at the end of the tour.
