Departure from Chiang Rai on a traditional longtail boat on the Kok River to reach the Ban Ruam Mitr elephant camp, a small Karen village. After a brief trekking with the elephants we proceed by car to Mae Salong, to visit the village and the surrounding areas, truly a Golden Triangle landscape. Visit to nearby villages of the Akha, Lahu, Yao minorities. Lunch in a typical restaurant. We visit the mystic temple of Phra That Sinakarindhra from where we enjoy a fantastic view of the hills. We each Doi Tung peak, where the winter palace of the late Queen Mother is. Transfer to Mae Sai, the northernmost town of Thailand bordering Myanmar, to visit a bustling market. Return to Chiang Rai and transfer to the hotel.
