Day 1:
Chiang Rai (Lunch)
Arrival in Chiang Rai. Visit the incredible Black House (Ban Dam), an extraordinary residence of a Thai artist transformed into a contemporary art museum. Departure for the famous Golden Triangle, with a stop at a village where you can get to know some mountain ethnic groups including the famous giraffe women (Padaung ethnic group). Lunch in a typical restaurant We then arrive at the geographical meeting point of the three countries, Burma, Laos and Thailand, known as the Golden Triangle and infamous for being the opium-growing region: a short ride on motorbikes on the Mekong River (which marks the border between Thailand and Laos). After a stop to visit the very interesting Opium Museum, return to Chiang Rai.
Day 2:
Chiang Rai (Breakfast, Lunch)
Departure from Chiang Rai aboard a traditional motor launch that goes up the Kok river entering a natural scenery of wild beauty. Arrival Village of Ban Ruam Mitr, a small village of the Karen ethnic group. Then continue by car to Mae Salong, where you visit the village and its surroundings, which offer a typical scenario of the Golden Triangle with numerous villages of Akha, Lahu and Yao minorities. On the way you visit the beautiful Chui Fong tea plantation, This place is not only famous for its delicious tea, but also the picturesque terraced tea fields. We then continue with a stop at the Tea Plantation 101 Doi Mae Salong. Lunch in a typical restaurant. Continue to the mystical Phra That Sinakarindhra temple from which you can enjoy a magnificent view, reaching Doi Tung, where the splendid winter residence of the late Queen Mother is located. Return to Chiang Rai
Day 3:
Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai (Breakfast, Lunch)
Breakfast. In the morning visit two beautiful recently built temples: Wat Rong Seur, better known as the Blue Temple, and the more famous Wat Rong Khun, known as the White Temple. Departure for Chang Mai Lunch in a typical restaurant In the afternoon visit of the main monuments of the city: the Chedi Luang and the Phra Sing. Towards sunset, climb to Wat Prathat Doi Suthep to enjoy the atmosphere that hovers over the temple and with the possibility of listening to the evening chants of the Buddhist monks. Overnight.
Day 4:
Chiang Mai (Breakfast, Lunch)
Departure in the morning for Mae Rim, along picturesque valleys and hills dense with tropical forest. We visit one of the most photogenic waterfalls in northern Thailand, the Mae Sa Waterfall. Composed of 10 levels, it is possible to get to the top by following a path in the forest. Possibility to take a refreshing dip in the numerous pools of very clear water. We set off again towards the village of Mae Kampong, a typical northern village still little known and untouched by mass tourism. Located on a provincial mountain road, the village is immersed in nature and surrounded by forest; gives rare visitors a unique, almost mystical atmosphere. Continue towards the homonymous waterfalls, not far away, which can be reached by following a very picturesque path. The falls are 7 tiers and the water flows into numerous cracks in the dark rock, giving a very wild image to this very little frequented place. Lunch in a typical restaurant. On the way back, stop to see a Royal Family development project. Where opium was once grown as the only means of subsistence, strawberries, tea, coffee and flowers are now grown. Return to Chiang Mai in the afternoon and transfer to the hotel.
