Program details
The day starts with a pick up by the the organizer from your hotel in Chiang Mai. We then transfer (on a SIC basis, managed by the organizer) to the sanctuary, approximately 1.5 hours outside of Chiang Mai, through pictoresque valleys and forested hills. Upon arrival at the sancturay, we meet out guide and walk for 10-15 minutes through the jungle to reach the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary. Then it's time to change into traditional Karen clothing and attend an introductory lesson about the elephants. We finally meet the elephants. Plenty of time to feed, interact, and play with them in their natural environment while learning about their behaviour and history. Photo sessions with the elephants. Lunch of traditional Thai food and fresh fruit. After lunch, the guide will explain how to make herbal medicine balls and feed the elephants. Then it's time to walk the elephants to the river, to enjoy bathing, brushing the elephants and splash around with them. Afterwards, it's time to change clothes and depart. The excursion ends with the transfer back to your hotel in Chiang Mai.
