It is the lowest body of water on earth, the lowest point on earth, and the world's richest source of natural salts, hiding wonderful treasures that accumulated throughout thousands of years. Day 4: Amman - Jerash - Ajloun - Amman (Breakfast, Dinner) After breakfast, we head to visit the ancient Roman city of Jerash, including the paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, theatres, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains and city walls. Proceeding to northern Jordan to visit one of the most important ecological and historical sites in the Middle East; Ajloun. Ajloun Castle (Qal’at Ar-Rabad) is a fine example of Islamic architecture as it was built by Saladin’s general in 1184 AD to control the iron mines of Ajloun, and to counter the progress of the Crusaders by dominating the three main routes leading to the Jordan valley and protecting the communication routes between Jordan and Syria. Day 5: Amman - Madaba - Nebo - Shoback - Petra (Breakfast, Dinner) After breakfast, Visit Madaba, a city best known for the famous 6th century Mosaic map of Jerusalem & Holy Land and for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and visit of St. George’s church. Mt. Nebo a city mentioned in the bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land that he would never enter. Just off the King's Highway 190 km south of Amman and less than an hour north of Petra stands an impressive castle as a lonely reminder of former Crusader glory dating from the same turbulent period as Kerak, crowning a cone of rock, which rises above a wild and rugged landscape dotted with a grand sweep of fruit trees below. It is today known as Shobak, but to the Crusaders it was Mont Real (Crak de Montreal) or Mons Regalis, the Fortress of the Royal Mount. It was built in 1115 by King Baldwin I of Jerusalem to guard the road from Damascus to Egypt, and was the first of a string of similar strongholds in the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. Amman – Totes Meer – Amman (Frühstück, Abendessen)
Nach dem Frühstück Fahren Sie zum Toten Meer, dem tiefsten Punkt der Erde, gelegen im Jordantal, 55 km südöstlich von Amman. Das Tote Meer ist eine der spektakulärsten natürlichen und spirituellen Landschaften der Welt, das niedrigste Gewässer der Erde und die reichste natürliche Quelle von Salzen, die sich über Tausende von Jahren angesammelt haben. Tag 3:
Amman – Jerash – Ajloun – Amman (Frühstück und Abendessen)
Nach dem Frühstück besuchen Sie die antike römische Stadt Jerash mit ihren gepflasterten und von Säulen gesäumten Straßen, hochgelegenen Tempeln, Theatern, großzügigen Plätzen, Bädern, Brunnen und Stadtmauern. Anschließend fahren Sie weiter nach Nordjordanien zum Besuch einer der bedeutendsten ökologischen und historischen Stätten im Nahen Osten: Ajloun. Besuchen Sie dort die imposante Burg Ajloun (Qal’at Ar-Rabad), ein herausragendes Beispiel islamischer Architektur. Die Festung wurde im Jahr 1184 n. Chr. von einem General Saladins erbaut, um die Eisenminen von Ajloun zu kontrollieren und den Vormarsch der Kreuzfahrer zu stoppen. Sie beherrschte strategisch die drei Hauptwege ins Jordantal und schützte wichtige Verkehrsverbindungen zwischen Jordanien und Syrien.

Tag 4:
Amman – Madaba – Berg Nebo – Shobak – Petra (Frühstück und Abendessen)
Nach dem Frühstück besuchen Sie Madaba, bekannt für die berühmte Mosaikkarte Jerusalems und des Heiligen Landes aus dem 6. Jahrhundert sowie für seine beeindruckenden byzantinischen und umayyadischen Mosaike. Besuch der St.-Georgs-Kirche. Danach Weiterfahrt zum Berg Nebo, ein in der Bibel erwähnter Ort, an dem Moses das Gelobte Land erblickte, das er jedoch nie betreten durfte. Etwa 190 km südlich von Amman und weniger als eine Stunde nördlich von Petra erhebt sich auf einem Felskegel eine imposante Kreuzritterburg – Shobak, einst Mont Real (Crak de Montréal) genannt. Sie wurde 1115 von König Balduin I. von Jerusalem errichtet, um die Straße von Damaskus nach Ägypten zu sichern.

Nach dem Frühstück besuchen wir die nabatäische Rote Rosenstadt Petra – eines der sieben Weltwunder und UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe. Wir betreten die antike Stadt durch eine etwa einen Kilometer lange, enge Schlucht, die von bis zu 80 Meter hohen Klippen gesäumt ist. Unterwegs bewundern wir die schillernden Farben und faszinierenden Formationen der Felsen. Die Stätte ist beeindruckend weitläufig und umfasst Hunderte kunstvoll in den Fels gehauene Gräber, das berühmte Schatzhaus, ein römisch inspiriertes Theater, Tempel, Opferaltäre und Säulenstraßen.

Tag 6:
Petra – Wadi Rum – Amman (Frühstück, Abendessen)
Nach dem Frühstück Fahrt ins Wadi Rum, um diese beeindruckende Wüstenlandschaft bei einer 2-stündigen Jeepfahrt zu erkunden. T.E.
